Rangers are set to embark on an important couple of Europa League games to end their league phase campaign.

The Light Blues are in a fantastic position to qualify for the last 16 of the competition automatically as they sit just inside the top eight teams.

Philippe Clement and his squad have already guaranteed a spot in the knockout play-off positions but they’ll be eyeing much more.

Last time out, Rangers earned a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and on Thursday evening, it’s more English opposition in the shape of struggling Manchester United.

Rangers will then wrap up the Europa League league phase with an Ibrox encounter with Union Saint-Gilloise and hopefully by then, passage to the last 16 has been secured.

There’s also plenty of prize money at stake over the next two games as Rangers aim to capitalise financially.

Below, Rangers News look at how much the club have banked so far and what they could rake in over the next week or so.

Rangers Europa League prize money earnings so far

Before we go any further, it should be noted that Rangers can earn prize money from UEFA directly via three separate revenue streams.

These are the equal participation fee, performance-related bonuses and the two-tiered value pillar, which is split into European and non-European parts.

What Rangers make from the value pillar parts cannot be determined at the moment because it is calculated at the end of the Europa League campaign – a projection can be made but it may not be accurate upon the tournament’s completion.

What we will focus on below is the prize money Rangers have guaranteed already and then what more they could earn depending on how the Ibrox giants progress.

Equal participation fee

This one is simple. Every team participating in this year’s Europa League league phase is guaranteed an equal share participation fee from UEFA.

The amount is just over £3.62m, which is split into a down payment of £3.49m and a balance of roughly £130k.

Performance-related bonuses

Rangers have been earning cash from UEFA from their wins and draws in the league phase so far. The club rakes in £380k per win and almost £127k per draw.

The Light Blues have three wins and two draws on their record ahead of facing Manchester United and Union Saint-Gilloise.

That means they have earned a total of just over £1.39m in performance-related bonuses.

Finally, Rangers are 100 percent guaranteed to qualify for the Europa League knockout play-off round either as a seeded or unseeded side. With that, they have already banked at least £253k.

By adding all of the above together, Rangers have so far banked around £5.26m in guaranteed prize money.

Potential prize money from Man Utd & USG

Now let’s have a look at what Rangers could make if they manage positive results against Manchester United and Union-Saint Gilloise, their final two league phase fixtures.

The most Rangers can make from these clashes is an extra £760k:

Rangers results vs Man Utd & USGTotal Bonuses
WW£760k
WD£507k
WL£380k
DD£254k
DL£127k

Europa League progression bonuses

Of course, how Rangers get on against United and USG will influence where they finish in the table, which also grants a bonus.

Rangers are already guaranteed to finish in the knockout play-off positions (9th – 24th) and have banked at least £253k for achieving that, which has already been outlined above.

But they will also get a bonus for the specific position they finish in. So on top of that £253k, Rangers could take anywhere between £760k and £1.77m for finishing between 9th and 24th.

Rangers have a great opportunity to qualify for the last 16 automatically by finishing in the top eight places of the league phase.

They will earn around £507k for finishing between 1st and 8th and an extra £1.47m for reaching the last 16. On top of that, it’s £1.83m for finishing in 8th and £2.28m for finishing 1st.
