On another day, Cyriel Dessers could have had a hat-trick against Livingston but Danilo showed that Rangers have more than one option at number nine.
Michael Beale appears to be playing the Nigeria international into fitness as he returns from an end of season injury, however, his strike partner from Feyenoord has put his had up for the starring role.
For most of the game, Cyriel Dessers led the line with Danilo playing a supporting role for Rangers but the Light Blues gaffer must be thinking about a change.
Danilo looked sharp in terms of his work out of possession and in pressing opponents.
As soon as he moved into the middle and had exit-linked Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima either side of him the 24-year old started to cause the Livi defence all sorts of problems.
He also scored a clinical goal to put the game beyond any doubt.

In recent seasons, Rangers haven’t been able to pick on form in the forward areas.
Now we can though.
Michael Beale shouldn’t be picking on preference even if Dessers is the man he identified to be first choice, especially if there are players who look sharper and more capable of contributing and Danilo comes into that category for Rangers.
He was on form for Feyenoord before he moved to Rangers and he hasn’t taken long to show what he is capable of.
Beale might want to play with two strikers and have Sam Lammers as a number ten behind them, but the manager has to be flexible and appreciate what everyone else saw in Ibrox.
With Dessers starting three in a row, Danilo has to play through the middle against Servette and support him with pace or players who can beat a man in wide positions.
There will be games when two strikers together might be the better option but square pegs in round holes doesn’t usually equate to success.
The Rangers manager is well respected as a tactician, now is his chance to show that stubbornness and ego isn’t going to hold this new look side back.
