Forgotten Rangers man posts Instagram tribute to form Ibrox teammate

Rangers striker Jermain Defoe didn’t play against Hearts yesterday, however, he seemed to enjoy Joe Aribo’s fantastic control going by his recent Instagram story.

Rangers were already 1-0 up before Goldson sent a glorious long-range pass towards Aribo, who plucked the ball from the sky with his usual grace and increased the club’s advantage.

The Nigerian international has arguably been one of the stand-out performers this season and it wasn’t just the fans who seemed to love his excellent touch.

Defoe shared an Instagram story of Aribo during his moment of genius and the caption read ‘wow’ followed by three flame emojis, showing just how much the striker enjoyed it.

The English striker has struggled for game time this campaign. The striker has only featured for the club twice so far this season, and with his contract expiring next year, this is surely his last season at Ibrox.

Under Steven Gerrard, Defoe combined playing with a coaching role, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst removed him from coaching duties as the new regime began, suggesting he still had a part to play in the side.

With only one substitute appearance so far under the Dutchman, it remains to be seen whether this statement will materialise.

Whatever happens, the former England international is the consummate professional and he has passed his knowledge and expertise onto fellow teammate Alfredo Morelos and formed a strong bond with the Colombian.

With his latest Instagram post, he obviously is still a massive part of the team and enjoys seeing his fellow players produce moments of magic.

Meanwhile, under-fire Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos could have earned Rangers’ fans redemption after his celebrations at the final whistle.
