A Rangers development team took on Cambridge United at The Hummel Training Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
There were a mixture of senior and youth players on show as the Gers XI ran out 2-0 winners.

The opener came after just nine minutes, courtesy of Andy Dallas. The teenage striker was played in by returning loanee Serge Atakayi, and he kept his cool to fire in a low finish.
The score stayed that way until almost the hour mark. Then Jamie Barjonas, fresh from a cameo for the senior team against Marseille on Sunday, scored from the edge of the area.

New signings imminent?
Noticeably, three trialists were included in the squad, with all three entering the fray as substitutes in the second half.
Therefore, the Gers clearly have their eye on adding some further talent during this window.
Gerrard has been extremely busy so far, with Sweden international Filip Helander the latest arrival.

It seems unlikely, given the sheer amount of players on the books, that all three will make it. However, the club wouldn’t be bothering to offer these opportunities, if they didn’t think the trialists had a chance.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled over the coming days for any transfer announcements coming out of the senior side or the academy. Gerrard’s pool of players could be about to expand even further.
