Michael Beale could have won two trophies when he first took over as Rangers manager with a squad that had been strengthened in the January transfer window.
Key players had returned from injuries and he had genuine options throughout the squad.
But, as with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, it was an early Old Firm defeat that saw the first red flag raised, but what other games cost Michael Beale his Rangers job?

The Viaplay Cup Final v Celtic 26 Feb 23
Going back to the start, his second derby was the league cup final after a promising 2-2 draw at Ibrox that we really should have won.
Attacking football had been promised but, for some reason, Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell sat on the bench and Rangers sat in.
Long balls were shelled to Fashion Sakala and Ryan Kent to chase and we created nothing despite having a strong starting XI and bench.
League defeat to Celtic 8 Apr 23
A must win league game saw Celtic emerge with three points once again and with them the title race was over.

Celtic win at Ibrox to go four points clear 3 Sep 23
Self-inflicted in terms of Rangers defence keeping Celtic at bay and gifting them a goal but, again, Michael Beale didn’t take the opportunity to put pressure on his opposite number.
Four points was the difference at full-time and after the 5-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in midweek, the Gers boss was lucky to get a stay of execution.

Michael Beale runs out of ideas and loses Rangers job
See Kilmarnock on the opening day for the defeat to Aberdeen.
Instead of getting better, as Michael Beale made changes Rangers looked progressively worse.
Clueless, we resorted to crossing into a packed box and hoped that something would happen rather than expected it to.
Michael Beale also used injuries an excuse in his post match press conference despite having five new signings and the core of Rangers title winning defence playing.
At full-time, the game was up – literally.
