“Special” clips prove that Rangers talent can break £16m Ibrox precedent

To anyone watching the Rangers B team’s impressive 3-0 victory over their Celtic counterparts, Alex Lowry was a class apart from everyone on the pitch.

The Ibrox teenager has already broken through into the first team this season, getting off the mark for the Gers in the 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion.

But as fans go on to review the talent young Alex Lowry displayed in the B team win over Celtic, a series of clips prove Rangers must act fast to protect a potentially record-breaking talent.

Popular Rangers fan account Pena Cartel regularly reviews footage to cut up segments into GIFs and other footage. He is well worth a follow on Twitter and also produces Rangers-themed art.

Here, the account cuts up two genuinely class, elegant and creative clips that showcase just how good Alex Lowry can be, with the account branding the midfielder “special”.

Alex Lowry proving Rangers potential in “special” clips

The first, Lowry calmly picks the ball up in midfield before rolling it through the Celtic defence and into the path of the overlapping Rangers attacker.

The second – which includes bad language in the tweet so we can’t embed but is available to view HERE – is potentially even better too.

Alex Lowry plucks the ball out of the air in the middle of the pitch, retains his composure despite the proximity of an opponent, juggles the ball to set himself and then volleys a stunning daisy-cutting through ball 40 yards to the right-sided attacker.

Both clips show that Rangers have a majorly talented youngster on their hands but also that the Gers must move quickly to sign him up on a long-term deal.

Oh, and he added a fine strike from 25 yards too.

As things stand, Alex Lowry’s current deal expires in 2023 and that means he will be able to discuss terms elsewhere come January next year.

Rangers managed to tie down the last major Academy talent in Nathan Patterson and this allowed the club to hold out for a potential £16m transfer fee.

But given Alex Lowry is a more offensive player who can provide goals and assists more often, then we reckon that if the youngster continues to progress with Rangers he could go for even more.

Here’s how the players rated in that stunning Rangers B 3-0 win over Celtic.
