As Ryan Kent is warned by the Fenerbahce manager and Alfredo Morelos settles on Santos both have just been delivered a harsh post-Rangers reality check.

Fenerbahce manager Ismail Kartal has been talking about dropping Ryan Kent as of late with the winger not seen in Super Lig action since the 2-1 opening day win over Gaziantep.

The winger has made four appearances for Fenerbahce this season but only three of those have come from the start with the player not featuring at all in the other five games played by the Turkish club.

Pressed on the situation with Ryan Kent, Fenerbahce manager Ismail Kartal claims the situation is tactical and urged the ex-Ibrox star to keep focused on training.

Kartal told Kent: “I did not include you in the squad for tactical purposes.

“I said this that day as well. I say it again – other names will not be in the squad one day.

“Don’t be demoralised, keep working. As long as you work like this, you will get the jersey.”

Ryan Kent in Fenerbahce manager lesson as Alfredo Morelos moves to Santos

Fenerbahce are also the side Alfredo Morelos had set his sights on at the end of the transfer window as he looked to remain in Europe after his stint with Rangers.

The Colombian forward was clear that he wanted to stay on the continent but as a Nottingham Forest deal for Michy Bathshuayi collapsed, so did Fenerbahce’s move for Morelos.

Since then, Alfredo Morelos has gone on to sign a deal with Brazilian club Santos and whilst he spoke glowingly about his time at Rangers, his dream move to Europe hasn’t happened.

With serious questions over the application of both players last season, it just goes to show you that the grass isn’t always greener away from Rangers.

The adulation and respect afforded those who give it all for the badge is second to none at Rangers and a harsh reality for many leaving Ibrox is that they’ll never quite get the same thing again.

As the Fenerbahce manager drops Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos settles on Santos, perhaps they might’ve learned from another high-profile Rangers star whose career has gone backwards since leaving Ibrox.
