Ross McCausland netted for Rangers B on Friday afternoon as the Gers came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Queen’s Park.

Craig Mulholland spoke at length about the club’s big plans for the B team earlier this summer [] and this was their second outing in less than a week, following the 5-1 hammering of BSC Glasgow on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the club is yet to provide any information on the fixture via official channels, so it’s unclear if the team fielded was filled with Academy players or if it featured a mixture of youth team regulars and fringe senior players.

Queen’s Park have recruited heavily over the summer as they look to gain promotion from SPFL League Two, following their move from amateur to professional status in 2019.

Ray McKinnon’s side were the quicker out of the blocks at the Rangers Football Centre, with former Motherwell, Falkirk and Greenock Morton striker, Bob McHugh, giving the visitors the lead in the 10th minute.

Rangers B missed a chance to level things up just before the interval with Jacques Heraghty saving a penalty.

The hosts did equalise in the second half, though, courtesy of a goal from Ross McCausland and the game finished 1-1.

The Northern Ireland youth international’s game-saving goal was his second strike in four days after he netted for the U18s in their 2-1 win over Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.
