Rangers have teased the release of further special edition whisky products amid a push from the club for new MyGers members.

The 13-year-old special edition single malt from Glenrothes Distillery recently sold out within 24 hours, with only 360 bottles produced.

Yet, supporters need not be too disappointed if they missed out on the first offering, with the club teasing the release of two further special edition whiskies on Twitter on Friday.

The products are due to be made available before Christmas, although no specific date has been provided.

It’s part of a concerted push from the club to increase MyGers memberships. The scheme was launched in May, with Rangers managing director, Stewart Robertson, describing it as a way to “bring our supporters, both domestically and internationally, even closer to the club” [Rangers.co.uk].

Those who pay a fee to sign up, are in turn given priority access to tickets, merchandise and partner products.

“It’s fantastic to see so many overseas members already joining the programme,” said sporting director, Ross Wilson, in a promotional video shared by the club later on Friday [RangersTV]. “We’re trying to develop a real high-level, elite football operation structure here at Rangers as we continue to take the club forward in all of our elements and the revenue generated from the MyGers programme really helps us to build out everything that we’re doing here on the football side.”

Fans have rallied around the club over the past six months or so amid the global health crisis, not only through the MyGers scheme but also by selling out season tickets despite the fact that all fixtures so far this season have taken place behind closed doors.

That financial support helped to allow the club to strengthen the first-team squad in the summer and with Steven Gerrard’s side currently well-positioned in both domestic and European competition, the investment is paying off.
