Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirms yet another serious Ryan Jack injury with fears it now spells curtains for his Ibrox career.
The 30-year-old midfielder has shown at times throughout his time in Govan that he is a player of genuine quality but as his contract ticks down Jacko has once again wound up on the treatment table.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Motherwell, Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed that Ryan Jack would be out for several months and will be joined by vice-captain Connor Goldson.
“Goldson and Jack have injuries, they both have muscular issues and won’t be back in the short term,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].
Joining on a free-transfer from Aberdeen in 2017, the muscle problem sustained during the Champions League humiliation against Liverpool will be the 15th injury of Ryan Jack’s Rangers career [Transfermarket].
That’s a quite remarkable record and means – with Ryan Jack being with Rangers for little over five years – that the player is averaging three injuries a season.
Doubts surround Rangers offering injury-prone Ryan Jack new deal
This raises serious questions regarding whether or not Rangers should offer Ryan Jack a new contract come the end of the season with the player’s lack of availability a major problem for the club.
It’s interesting that since joining Rangers in 2017, Ryan Jack has been involved in a total of 165 games for the club.
Contrast this with the other star who was injured in the clash with Liverpool, Connor Goldson, who has played in 240 matches for Rangers despite joining a year later.
The Gers squad has also been decimated by injury this season and by resigning Ryan Jack, Rangers risk the same situation happening next year and beyond.

Ryan Jack and Connor Goldson join an extensive Rangers long-term injury list that currently includes Filip Helander, John Souttar, Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence.
The likes of Kemar Roofe and Alex Lowry haven’t played yet this season but are nearing a return whilst Jon McLaughlin and Glen Kamara have found themselves out of the side with knocks as of late.
Meanwhile, one former Rangers star has been spotted back in Ibrox after leaving in 2020.
