Rangers defender Borna Barisic has said his Ibrox Future will become clear next month amid the recent interest from Watford but says he is fully focussed on the club.
Barisic’s performances have significantly improved ever since Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over the side in November. Under Gerrard, he looked a shadow of his former self.
“The situation is i am focussed on Rangers like i always said in regards to transfers,” Barisic said whilst speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Pittodrie [RangersTV].
“I’ve heard a lot of ‘wrong information’ – not all, but a lot of wrong information. All the answers to my situation you will have at the start of February.
“If someone says ‘£30m for Borna’ i will not be here!
“All that matters is I’m a professional, fully focused on Rangers and on our next game against Aberdeen.”
Borna Barisic is focussed on Rangers
These comments suggest the player is fully committed to the Gers unless a major bid comes in. With Watford interested in the left-back and tabling a derisory £2m bid [DailyRecord] which was instantly thrown out, there will need to be more serious offers if anyone wants to take the Croatian off our hands.
This was just another example of clubs down south taking a chance and sending low ball offers in order to pressure clubs into selling.
After the recent sale of Nathan Patterson for a club-record fee, the axis has shifted and Rangers should be demanding high fees for their star players, regardless of who comes in with bids.
With Rangers taking on Aberdeen tomorrow night in the first match back from the winter break, Barisic looks focussed. Hopefully, he can continue his impressive form as the Ibrox side look to continue their league-winning streak under van Bronckhorst.
