Rangers star Joe Aribo continues to impress for Nigeria as a 3-1 victory over Sudan was enough to see them qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 with a match to spare.
The Super Eagles defeated one of the continent’s strongest nations Egypt 1-0 in the first match of the group stage, with Aribo superbly assisting Kelechi Iheanacho to score the winner as they topped the group and sent out a strong statement of intent.
With two wins from two so far, Nigeria is in pole position to make a strong run in the tournament as they aim to win their fourth continental title.
Can Joe Aribo inspire Nigeria to success?
The midfielder has been fantastic for Rangers so far this term, working on improving his consistency to constantly set high standards.
He has raised his game under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, scoring three times whilst providing one assist as the Dutchman has given Aribo more creative freedom.
This form has carried into the AFCON competition, with two excellent performances so far to boost Nigeria’s chances of success.
Aribo’s good performances can only be a good thing for Rangers. With every goal or assist being monitored, excelling in the tournament could increase his value.
Although in an ideal world, the Ibrox side would want to keep the 25-year-old for as long as possible, it is inevitable that he will outgrow the club.
With Premier League interest high, there is no doubt the Nigerian International can shine down south.
Before any transfer talk can begin, Aribo has a job to do, and that is carrying the Super Eagles to an almost unbelievable triumph.
