Rangers star Connor Goldson has bitten back at the suggestion he’s signed a new contract at Ibrox – but has been clear he’s open to a new deal in Glasgow.
The big stopper, 28, is the foundation on which 55 was built and played every single minute as the Ibrox club secured the title last season.
But there has been much conjecture surrounding Connor’s future with the centre-back entering the final year of his deal.
Reports at the beginning of the summer suggested that vice-captain Goldson was set to follow captain James Tavernier in signing a new contract [Daily Record].
But as no announcement came these gave way to fears which were eventually extinguished by remarks Goldson made about going on to dominate Scottish football [RangersTV].

Those reports appeared to spawn numerous claims that a deal had been arranged but Goldson is clear nothing is signed, even if he’s open to staying.
Not only this, but it’s clear the discussion is in the hands of the player’s representative with Goldson eager to focus on the football.
“I seen that myself (the reports). It wasn’t true (reports Goldson had signed),” said Connor, ahead of the club’s trip to Dundee United [Rangers].
“I don’t know where it come from. My representatives are in talks with the club and we all have a good relationship and things are moving but not as quickly as the media are making it out to be.
“I am happy here, I’m in a good place and I feel like I’m probably in the prime of my career and I’ve loved ever minute I’ve been at the football club and the talks are ongoing.
“Hopefully I can get sorted, I haven’t really spoke to my agent, I said to him four or five weeks ago that the season’s started and I need to focus on this and I can’t be distracted by this.
“It’s a massive month for the football club with the Champions League and starting off a new season.
“I don’t want to know about it, I know there are discussions going on between the club and my representatives and the club have made it clear they want me to stay which I’m happy about.
“When it gets done I’m sure we’ll all know about it including myself but for now I just need to focus on the football.”
The big Ibrox defender is also buzzing to get fans back into the ground and spoke up the family connection which is cementing his love of Ibrox.
Goldson spoke up the “adrenaline” the fans give you and thinks he’ll have “goosebumps” when a full house returns on Tuesday against Malmo.
“I can’t wait, even in pre-season it’s been amazing to have the noise,” said Goldson.
“I’ve been able to have my wife and my little boy there; he’s loving it, he even woke up this morning saying he wanted to go to the Big Blue House.
“I had to tell him we’re not playing at home this weekend so he can’t come!
“But it’s amazing to have fans back, it gives you so much more adrenaline when you walk out and that feeling is what you play football for.”
Contract talk isn’t only happening around Connor Goldson either as manager Steven Gerrard confirmed that a “strong” offer is on the table for another key Rangers first-teamer.
