Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that the club have made a contract offer to Finnish international midfielder Glen Kamara.

News broke yesterday via the Athletic that the Gers were closing in on a deal for the ex-Arsenal player, who is amongst the Ibrox side’s most valued assets.

With only two years left on his current deal – and rakes of reported interest south of the border – this deal would be signed to protect everyone’s interests and reward Kamara for his fine form.

As part of this, the Athletic believe they have given Kamara assurances that Rangers will accept a “sensible bid” for the player with 25-year-old Kamara “keen” on a Premier League return.

Speaking ahead of the Ibrox side’s trip to Tannadice to face Dundee United, Steven Gerrard confirmed a “real, strong, good offer” is on the table.

“There is a real, strong, good offer on the table for Glen, so the speed in which this happens is totally on Glen. The ball is firmly in his court,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“The offer is really good from the club – his advisors are happy with the offer so now it is totally down to Glen. I’m sure the question should go in Glen’s direction because we are ready, waiting and hoping that it’s done as soon as possible.

“He’s extremely important to keep at the football club.

“I think his progress since we took him in from Dundee has been clear for everyone to see. He’s gone on to become a real established international player.

“We know he can handle any football game here. I love the kid, I love the player and I’ve made it abundantly clear how much I want him to stay from a personal point of view.”

According to Spanish speaking Scottish football account Rincón Escocés, this proposed deal would make Kamara amongst the Ibrox side’s top earners.

The outlet claimed yesterday that the deal had not yet been signed – contrary to reports – and added that Kamara rejected a Gers approach in June.

“He (Kamara) rejected the first in June and this second has considerably higher economic terms, which would place him at the top of the salary scale of the club, which he (Gerrard) trusts that the Finn will accept,” tweets Rincón Escocés.

Whilst fans will be delighted to see Kamara sign on at Ibrox, some fans have been appealing to the club to move for another midfielder currently plying his trade in Scotland.
