Rangers chairman Dave King was emotional as he announced his intention to step down at Ibrox, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Rangers fans.
Many of the club’s supporters see the South Africa-based businessman as the club’s saviour in its time of need and his decision to move on has been met with appreciation by Gers fans.
Giving a rousing half-an-hour plus speech to sign off as the club’s chairman, some Rangers fans were getting just as teary-eyed as he was.
All the best Dave King.
Although there's been mistakes, the building job you have done over the past couple of years has been brilliant. The club is now in a relatively strong position and is on the up. Thanks for having our backs 👍🔴⚪🔵https://t.co/MY5DLYZ1ON— Drew Mair (@gimmi_sum_mair) November 26, 2019

On a purely personal level, I would applaud Dave King's speech. His point about the necessity to incur losses in strengthening the squad to make the team competitive in order to drive shareholder value is one with which I fully agree. You could also see clearly how moved he was.

It’s been an emotional five years for Dave King and the progress Rangers have made on and off the pitch can largely be attributed to the determination, investment and support of King and the other investors and members of the Ibrox board.
With the club being ravaged apart by the previous regime, King described the “duty” he had to undertake in order to salvage what remained [Rangers].
What followed were years of boardroom retail battles with Sports Direct, Takeover Panels, share issues and tumultuous managerial reigns.

In the end, King got his man in Steven Gerrard and both have overseen the rise of Rangers into a genuine title contender and European challenger.

Now, the fans would enjoy nothing more than silverware, and even 55, to toast the success the boyhood Rangers fan has had at Ibrox.
His legacy, even now, is amongst the most dramatic and important of anyone’s in the near 150-year history of the famous Glasgow club.
