Rangers despatched Hearts 3-1 at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon in an impressive display.

It was their fourth win in four fixtures against Hearts, which is bound to be a source of satisfaction for Steven Gerrard.

However, the game had further significance for one of his most trusted players.

Connor Goldson.

It was his 50th appearance for the Gers. A milestone even more impressive when you consider he only signed for the club last summer.

While other arrivals have struggled with injury or failed to establish themselves in the team, Goldson has been a near constant throughout the season.

He experienced a minor dip in form last month, but overall he’s been hugely impressive.

It was a big responsibility to come in and be take the vice-captaincy straight away, but he’s led by example from the heart of defence.

It hasn’t been easy either. The centre-back partnership has rarely been settled. Therefore, he’s turned out alongside Joe Worrall, Nikola Katic and Gareth McAuley at various points across the campaign.

The 26-year-old is tied with Allan McGregor and second only to James Tavernier, in terms of appearances.

When the Rangers Twitter account posted to recognise his achievement, some Bears lauded the centre-half.
