After our evaluation of Joe Worrall, it’s time turn our attentions to a fellow centre-back, Connor Goldson.
The defender joined Rangers for just over £3 million from Brighton in the summer. At the time, Transfermarkt estimated his market value to be £900k.
However, his figures were updated yesterday and more accurately reflect his summer fee. He is now valued at £2.48 million.

With 36, he has made more appearances at the back than Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley combined.
Therefore, he deserves by far the most credit for Rangers’ strong defensive record.
The vice-captain has helped secure an excellent 14 clean sheets in all competitions.
An outstanding performer

However, when playing the volume of matches he has, mistakes will always come.
Always prepared to get his head to the ball and to clear his lines, Goldson is uncompromising and effective.
At the other end of the pitch, he’s even added two crucial goals. The match winner against FC Ufa and Rangers’ equaliser away at Hearts.

Yet, a solid defence will be crucial to picking up a 55th first-tier Scottish title.
Goldson is the best defender Rangers have. In fact, he’s almost certainly the best in Scotland right now.
Keeping him fit and performing is vital for Gerrard in 2019.
