Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been spotted in London as reports intensify surrounding an imminent move to Premier League Aston Villa.

According to a clip released by the Ibrox Channel doing the rounds on social media, Gerrard has arrived in London with his agent Struan Marshall as reports intensify surrounding the move.

The news certainly looks ominous for Rangers fans with sources close to Aston Villa now describing the deal as “all but done”.

Birmingham Observer journalist Ashley Preece has been the one leading this conversation and he claims an announcement is set for the next 24-48 hours.

“Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa all but done as he finalises his backroom staff,” said Preece.

“I’m expecting an announcement within the next 24 to 48 hours if not sooner. Christian Purslow set to get his man.”

Rangers fans are now beginning to accept that it’s looking increasingly likely the Ibrox manager will be moving down south.

Interestingly, the original reports surrounding the interest also suggested that billionaire-funded Villa want to bring Gerrard’s backroom staff with him.

This would leave the Ibrox club needing a massive reshuffle in terms of the management team and with some massive matches on the horizon fans will want the club to fill the void imminently.

Timing is everything as Rangers boss Steven Gerrard looks set to leave to Aston Villa

That’s not going to be easy but with a League Cup semi v Hibs – by no means a gimme – and a decisive Europa League clash against Sparta Prague on the horizon, things must move quickly.

Previous quotes from the manager about being committed at Ibrox have also soured Gerrard’s legacy with plenty feeling he’s gone back on his word.

Rangers fans, disappointed of course that the manager is jumping ship, have been reacting to the footage of the manager stepping off the train:

Rangers supporters are naturally disappointed in the situation but one leading fan media outlet has debunked a series of myth surrounding the potential transfer.
