Rangers have announced a new Soccer Schools partnership with Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club in Victoria, Australia, in an agreement that is said to have ‘a host of commercial benefits’ [Rangers.co.uk]

The news was announced via the club’s Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

It’s stated that the Gers will send coaches over to Australia to carry out sessions with the new partner club, while talented Monbulk players will go the other way.

Theo Kertens described the partnership as a ‘dream come true’ while the Rangers’ Head of Soccer Schools and International Relations, Gary Gibson, also spoke of his delight at the deal.

“This agreement with Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club is another sign of the club’s continued international expansion through collaboration with football organisations that are eager to develop their club, coaches and players,” he said, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk.

“We’re excited to get the partnership started, which has a host of commercial benefits to Rangers.

“Over the next three years, we will have staff travel to Australia to deliver camp and coach education events and have tour groups coming to Glasgow for football and cultural experiences.”

Verdict

On a dramatic day as the club’s feud with SPFL rumbles on, this may not be the most high-profile news to come out of Ibrox.

Fans hoping for an update on the hotly anticipated new kit deal will also have been left disappointed.

However, this looks to be another positive move as the Gers expand into new markets via the Soccer Schools.

The Oceania Rangers Supporters’ Association is set to play a role in this new partnership and Bears will be hoping that the club will reap significant financial rewards in the long-term.

Close links with Orange County Soccer Club in California, Bengaluru FC in India and the Soccer School arrangements in China and now Australia, ensure Rangers really do now have a global reach.
