Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has responded to being dropped by manager Steven Gerrard for the 4-2 win over Ross County with a cryptic Instagram post.
The Colombian forward was benched for the victory over the Staggies with Fashion Sakala preferred from the start and Kemar Roofe the forward who came off the bench.
The striker hasn’t quite been himself this season with a return of 7 goals in 20 games disappointing for the talismanic Ibrox forward.
Taking to Instagram, the striker has shared an image alongside the “shush” emoji as he looks to silence his detractors.
The image says “gana en silencio deja que piensen que estas perdiendo” which in English translates to “win in silence let them think you’re losing”.
The post is a clear message to the striker’s detractors, but it remains to be seen what the player is specifically talking about.
Alfredo Morelos told to buck up ideas before cryptic Instagram post
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has previously urged the Colombian striker to buck up his ideas this season and spoke earlier in the campaign about a need for improvement.
The Ibrox gaffer spoke when Morelos hit 5 from 15 and with 7 in 20 a similar statistic one wonders if Gerrard still feels it’s “quite obvious” the player is “not at his best”.
“Five in 15 is not enough for me,” said Gerrard [Rangers].
“Not just from him, I think we need to score more goals. All our strikers. We are at Rangers here; the chances that we are creating I would expect the guy who has played the majority of the minutes as a No 9 to have more than five in 15.
“They are stats that we need to improve on moving forward. We have to keep providing the service and the chances for Alfredo to get more goals.
“But if you look at previous number nines and also Alfredo’s record in other seasons, it has been better than five in 15.
“I am sure Alfredo himself, and certainly myself and the coaching staff and our attacking unit in terms of our No 9s, we want to get more goals.”
The Rangers striker also finds himself out of the Colombia reckoning such has been his form this season and with competition aplenty in the Gers squad the striker must work hard to get back into the side.
Instagram aside, it’s not that Alfredo Morelos hasn’t had his moments this season – the striker’s 100th goal in a Rangers shirt earned him the plaudits of supporters.
