Premier League Southampton show Rangers what they’re missing as they upload a clip of silky Nigerian international Joe Aribo displaying his talents against Arsenal.
The talented midfielder was a revelation at Ibrox and a mainstay in the first team before his summer move to the South coast and the English top flight.
In the clip, the hardworking midfielder tracks back to win the ball before using his body to shield it and then dance away from two Arsenal defenders.
Rangers could wind up recouping up to £10m for the player in the seasons to come and that should be no issue at all given the progress our Joe is making at Southampton.
But seeing this clip of Joe Aribo at Southampton – in a recent 1-1 draw with the Premier League leaders – somewhat shows Rangers what they’re missing.
Joe Aribo thriving at Southampton as Rangers toil
The talented midfielder was an important player for Rangers last season, as evidence by the fact he played 70 games for club and country, and there’s a feeling we haven’t suitably replaced him this time around.
That was always going to be difficult but in the case of Joe Aribo, Southampton have snapped up a relative bargain and Rangers are currently toiling for form without his influence.
Speaking after his summer move to Southampton the likeable 26-year-old admitted he will always hold an affection for the Ibrox club.
“Rangers are a real family,” said Aribo.
“It holds a big place in my heart. The fans are amazing as are my team-mates and the staff.
“Leaving hasn’t actually sunk in yet. And that’s the thing with me. I don’t really let moments get to me too much.
”I do need to sit down and let this one sink in as it’s literally a dream come true (to move to the English Premier League). From a child I wanted this.”
Meanwhile, as Joe Aribo impresses at Southampton the mystery surrounding one of his old pals at Rangers continues.
