Rangers’ frustratingly vague injury updates continue as manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirms that Glen Kamara will miss the clash against Napoli because, well, we don’t know why exactly.
The Finnish international midfielder was said to be nursing a “little knock” after the 4-0 Ibrox win at St Mirren and since then hasn’t been seen nor mentioned by the Ibrox club’s coaching staff.
Rangers fans have been left wondering what is going on with Glen Kamara as the club’s disastrous injury record at the start of this campaign continues.
Apparently, the midfielder could be back in the squad for the Premiership visit of Aberdeen at the weekend whilst there are positive updates on Rabbi Matondo and Leon King, who went off during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Livingston.
”Kamara didn’t make it, too soon in his recovery but hopefully back for the weekend,” said Van Bronckhorst [Rangers].
“Matondo is fit after a small injury at weekend and has travelled with us.
”Leon King is better, he was feeling sick on Saturday at half-time and had to come off.”
Vague Glen Kamara injury update keeps Rangers fans guessing
At one stage, it wouldn’t have been unreasonable to expect squad updates to be a routine part of a press conference and the media given specific details and timelines when it comes to injuries.
But now Rangers appear desperate to keep all this information in-house and whether or not sharing it makes any difference to the injury itself, a more honest and direct approach would certainly placate frustrated fans.
The club’s supporters are getting fed up with a lot at Ibrox as of late but this insistence of giving nothing away when it comes to player injuries is both frustrating and bizarre.
Barely a peep escapes the Ibrox dressing room as fans are left guessing about the cause of injuries to key players and the length of time they’re likely to be out until bombshells are dropped in press conferences.

The fact this apparently “little” Glen Kamara knock has kept him out for the last two weeks with injury is frustrating and whilst we don’t expect miracles from the medical or coaching team, a little more transparency when it comes to the plethora of injuries might be nice.
But I suppose it really makes no difference to the injury, we don’t need to know because we’re not medical experts anyway and well, we’re only the fans after all.
It’s like when your mum used to tell you ‘your dinner will be ready when it’s ready’.
Meanwhile, Rangers are set to be without one key £3.5m star for the trip to Napoli, even though he is fit enough to play.
