Rangers may fear a Chelsea domino as renewed interest in Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez could help the Portuguese club fund a move for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin.
Rangers have been extensively linked with a move for Belgian U21 international Raskin all January long and the latest coming out of Belgium suggests an agreement is “close” [La Capitale].

But any late Chelsea move for Argentine World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez might have the nerves jangling at Ibrox amid Benfica links to Nicolas Raskin.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea remain interested in a deal for 22-year-old Enzo Fernandez despite the fact Benfica want his £105.4m release clause to be met.
That eye-watering figure could more than certainly help Benfica then turn their attentions to Nicolas Raskin, with the Portuguese giants linked to the player earlier in January.
Should they lose Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea, then they’d need midfield reinforcements with the Rangers-linked midfielder certainly posing an option.
Rangers hope to avoid Enzo Fernandez Chelsea domino
Rangers will be hoping that this is not the case as they negotiate a deal for Nicolas Raskin, who is currently out of contract in the summer and banished from first team training at Standard Liege.
With some reports claiming that Standard want around €2m (£1.75m) for the midfielder, that’s a fraction of the price attached to the Enzo Fernandez Chelsea reports.
Rangers manager Michael Beale has also been talking about reported January business heading into the final few days of the window and insists the club are working hard to get deals done.
“I think there will be a couple of things in the next 48 hours one way or the other,” explains Beale [Rangers].
“Can I guarantee you sat here that we’ll have new arrivals? No. Are we going to try our best? Definitely.”
Meanwhile, here’s the latest on the reported pursuit of Morgan Whittaker.
