Michael Beale doubles down in social media hissy fit

Michael Beale has taken losing the Rangers manager’s job a little bit like a teenager would take to their partner breaking up with them.

Steven Gerrard’s former number two was sacked due to not qualifying for the Champions League, losing three league games before the clocks change and not winning any big games during his short tenure.

Michael Beale took to social media in a dignified manner when he was relieved of his Rangers duties, but he has done so again in a style that can only be defined as less than becoming of the office.

Michael Beale doubles down after Rangers sacking

First of all, the ex-Gers boss started liking posts that were complimentary of his time at Ibrox with one in particular standing out:

“Rangers were very consistent under Beale. In ffact, we’ve never had a manager win so consistently in our 150 year history.

“Did the team struggle at the start of the season? Yes. It had just been assembled, and then it was hit with an injury crisis.

“This team could well be great.”

As with anything in football Michael Beale’s time at Rangers wasn’t as straight forward as that.

He had the chance to win two cups and lost to Celtic in both of them.

He drew a pivotal Old Firm derby that Rangers controlled trying to protect a lead.

Then there was the dismal away performance against PSV Eindhoven and a limp derby defeat just a few days later.

Add this to losses against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen and there are several reasons why it doesn’t make for pretty reading.

Michael Beale must have then been aware of the criticism that he was getting because he restricted his X account before, finally, deactivating it altogether.

One thing his old boss Steven Gerrard had was the statesman like qualities needed to be the Rangers manager, but as this latest, almost petulant episode, has confirmed is that Michael Beale was never the right fit to sit in the hot seat.
