Jose Cifuentes has just spent the season alongside Rangers player’s brother

As Jose Cifuentes reportedly heads to Rangers, one wonders if he’s had a conversation about the club with LAFC teammate Timothy Tillman, who is the brother of Ibrox loanee Malik Tillman.

The Gers are said to be closing in on a deal for 24-year-old midfielder Jose with the likes of Fabrizio Romano claiming a Cifuentes deal is in its final stages.

Couple this with the appearance of Jose Cifuentes’ agent at Ibrox for the 3-0 win over Celtic and suddenly all the signs are pointing to the player joining the Light Blues.

But in an interesting twist of fate, there’s an on-pitch Cifuentes link to Rangers at LAFC, with the Ecuadorean international playing alongside Timothy Tillman this season.

Also coming through at the Bayern youth academy, Timothy Tillman is the brother of this season’s Rangers star and PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year Malik.

Joining LAFC at the beginning of this MLS season, the midfielder has made a strong impression in the USA and, alongside Cifuentes, has the west coast club second in the Western Conference.

Being a midfielder, Timothy needs to have a strong on pitch relationship with Cifuentes and, given Malik has just spent the season at Rangers, one wonders if the club has ever came up in conversation between the two.

While Malik Tillman’s Rangers future remains up in the air, and the player has returned to Bayern after a season-ending injury, the USA international has only ever been glowing about his experience in Glasgow.

If Cifuentes ever needed an indirect Rangers recommendation via Timothy Tillman then we’re sure Malik would have given it as the Ecuadorean allegedly prepares to head to Glasgow.

We’ve looked at the type of player Rangers could be getting in Cifuentes ahead of a busy transfer window at Ibrox.

The Gers are expecting to make a range of big signings this summer and moving for the South American would be a solid start to a crucial window.
