Ecuador midfielder Jose Cifuentes has “everything arranged” to complete a transfer to Rangers – if the Ibrox side can agree a fee with MLS side LAFC.

That’s according to reports in the player’s homeland, which have emerged on social media in the last few hours through the likes of Ecuadorean publication Mr Offsider.

They have attributed the claims to South American journalist Alejandro Ruilova, who is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and who works for Ecuadorean publication Teradeportes.

The suggestion is that Rangers have now struck a deal for Jose Cifuentes, but that the final remaining detail holding the deal up is agreeing a fee with LAFC.

Rangers try to strike LAFC Jose Cifuentes deal

Jose Cifuentes is about to enter the final six months of his deal in California and whilst he will be free to sign a pre-contract with Rangers, LAFC will demand a transfer fee to bring him to Glasgow this summer.

The Ecuadorean claim reads:

“José Cifuentes has everything arranged to go to Glasgow Rangers. One last economic detail is missing between clubs.”

The journalist himself would later expand on this in a message on Twitter himself, Ruilova claiming that LAFC are currently mulling over an offer from Rangers.

“Jose Cifuentes, Ecuadorian player has agreed to go to Rangers,” tweets Ruilova.

“Only that Los Angeles FC asks for an amount of money to be able to release the player before the end of his contract.

“It is being negotiated since Rangers offered an amount that is being studied by the club.”

Rangers look to finalise Ecuador star interest

Rangers are now tasked with striking a deal with LAFC to complete the move for Jose Cifuentes, who looks to be a key transfer target in this summer’s window.

For all intents and purposes, the player looks ready to move to Ibrox after the agents of Cifuentes were given the Ibrox treatment towards the end of last season.

A highly-rated 24-year-old midfielder, this move would represent something of a coup for Rangers given previous links to the Premier League, with many clubs said to have retained an interest this summer.

However, the question has quickly turned to how much Rangers will have to pay to secure a permanent deal for Jose Cifuentes as they enter negotiations with LAFC.

According to leading Rangers insider Four Lads Had a Dream, the fee could reach anywhere up to £1.5m in claims which have since been reiterated in different areas of the media.
