A Daily Record report appears to have cleared up some mystery surrounding Jordan Rossiter.
As we all know, Rangers have reported back to Auchenhowie this week to begin pre-season training.
However, not every member of the first team squad is present.
We’ve noticed that both Eros Grezda and Joe Dodoo are absent, for example.
Rossiter is another who can’t be spotted in any of the various training photos or videos uploaded by the Rangers social media team.
Given the midfielder’s dreadful injury history, that could be a matter of concern for Bears.

However, it seems he’s neither crocked nor on his way out of Ibrox.
Extra rest for Rossiter
Instead, the Record claims he’s been given extra time off by Steven Gerrard.
It’s perhaps a little surprising, given that Rossiter was away on loan over the second half of last season. Therefore, you would think this first week or so would be crucial for him coming back into the group.
After all, no fewer than six other players returning from loans have reported back to the Hummel Training Centre this week.
Yet, the manager appears to be prioritising recuperation for the former Liverpool youngster.
He did play almost every minute of 16 league matches after joining Bury in January [Soccerbase], which is unprecedented in his senior career. Even stringing three or four games together without picking up an injury has proved a struggle since he joined the Gers.

It’s not stated when exactly he will return. Yet, it’s great news that he’s still fit and healthy.
Competition will be fierce in central midfield next season, but Rossiter did himself no harm away in League Two.
Staying injury-free is the key and if he does that, he’ll look to mount a genuine challenge for a place in matchday squads.
