Rangers star Joe Aribo has been earning comparisons to basketball legend Michael “Air” Jordan after his stunning touch in the victory over Hearts.

The Nigerian international midfielder, 25, plucked the ball out of the air in a stunning moment in the 2-0 victory over the Jambos before lashing it past Craig Gordon.

It contributed to an important victory for the Gers and an image of Joe Aribo has been earning comparisons to Chicago Bulls hero Michael Jordan.

Much of this concerns the logo for MJ’s legendary Nike Air brand which adorns sportswear and trainers in the legendary basketball star’s name.

The logo is of an outstretched leaping Michael Jordan doing his signature jump towards the hoop on the basketball court.

Rangers fans have picked up on this and reckon that Joe Aribo has shades of Michael Jordan as he stretched out for the ball against Hearts.

MJ-esque Joe “Airibo” praised by Rangers fans

Joe Aribo has been the player on form this season for Rangers and has been fast emerging as a popular star in the Ibrox camp.

As a result of the similarities – and whilst Joe Aribo controls the ball with his foot and Michael Jordan his hand – Rangers fans have also been having some on Twitter.

The goal was Aribo’s fourth in five Scottish Premiership matches and alongside Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe he is Rangers’ top league scorer this season (6).

Rangers fans will be hoping that the player sticks around for a little longer but with 18 months left on his current deal the Gers have realistically got two windows to cash in.

Rangers’ Joe Aribo reportedly a man in demand

The exploits of Joe Aribo are also reportedly not going unnoticed down south with a trio of Premier League clubs being linked heading into the January window.

Brentford, Crystal Palace and Watford are all reportedly tailing the Nigerian international according to the Daily Mail and Gers fans will be hoping to keep hold of the midfielder.

Signed for a reported £300k development fee from Charlton in 2019, Joe Aribo has this season developed into a matchwinner for the Gers and fans are certainly enjoying his performances.

They’re not the only ones either as a teammate on the fringes of the squad is blown away by the talented midfielder.

Links to Joe Aribo aren’t the only time that Michael Jordan has been mentioned alongside this Rangers squad either.
