Greg Docherty subbed in weekend defeat, could make amends in FA Cup

There was disappointment at the weekend for Greg Docherty, as he was substituted before the hour mark by Shrewsbury manager, Sam Ricketts.
The Shrews had just went 2-0 down at home to Charlton, in a game which eventually ended 3-0.

The defeat saw the Blue nose’s adopted side slip to slip to 18th in League One.
More importantly, though, the gap between themselves and the relegation zone has been cut to just three points.
No doubt, Docherty will have been disappointed to come off. Especially considering he has been a near ever-present under the new Town manager.

However, he should get a chance to make amends this evening.

Despite languishing towards the bottom of the third tier, Shrewsbury gave their Championship opponents a real scare in the original tie, drawing 1-1 at New Meadow.

Stoke boast a number of quality former Premier League players in their side, though.
Joe Allen, Sam Clucas and Tom Ince are all part of the opposition’s midfield.

If Docherty can rise to that challenge again, it could make up for his weekend showing.
What’s more, if he can dominate against proven performers, it’ll be another sign that he is up to the challenge of being a Rangers midfielder.
