Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller has signed a deal to join Huddersfield Town as an assistant coach to manager Mark Fotheringham.
The ex-Ibrox forward replaces Paul Harsley at the John Smith’s Stadium and will set about trying to get the English Championship side back to the English top flight.
The Terriers have limped through the English second flight ever since their relegation from the top tier in 2019 and Kenny Miller will now be part of the team to get them back to the top.
However, before Huddersfield can start to dream of that they will need to stave off relegation this season with the club firmly rooked to the bottom of the English Championship ahead of the World Cup break.
Five points from safety and with half a season to play, it will be a test of Kenny Miller’s coaching credentials in the second half of the campaign and ex-Celtic star Fotheringham has explained why he wanted former Ger Miller on board.
“We spent two-and-a-half years together on the UEFA Pro License course and it became immediately clear that it was his work ethic that made him such a success as a player, and as a coach,” said Miller [HTFC].
“Kenny has a winning mentality, which comes from living and breathing football at the highest level. It’s great to have him here in the building, and for our players to benefit from the knowledge and expertise he can offer.
“Not only is he a top coach, but he’s also a fantastic family man. I think that fits the ethos of the Club perfectly.”

Kenny Miller left Rangers in controversial circumstances at the end of the 17/18 season following an infamous bust up involving Lee Wallace and Graeme Murty.
The two players had been involved in a rammy with the caretaker manager following a Scottish Cup hammering at the hands of Celtic and Miller’s contract wasn’t renewed.
It was a salty end to three spells at Rangers in an extensive playing career that also seen Kenny Miller turn out for Hibs, Wolves, Derby, Bursaspor, Cardiff, Vancouver, Livingston, Dundee and Partick Thistle.
But it’s a one year stint with Old Firm rivals Celtic that has tarnished the ex-Ibrox star’s legacy amongst Rangers fans with plenty believing that whilst Miller was a top player for the club, any suggestion of legendary status is banished because of his spell at Parkhead.
Nonetheless, Rangers fans will watch Kenny Miller’s spell at Huddersfield closely and let’s hope he can help the club avoid relegation from the Championship this season.
Meanwhile, there certainly appears to be more to a Rangers kit drama than an initial law suit would suggest.
