Rangers huffed and puffed for the best part of 75 minutes against Hearts and it wasn’t until Philippe Clement injected more pace into his attack with players like Ross McCausland, that the pressure started to increase.
With his first touch of the ball, the 20-year old winger did more than Sam Lammers managed in over 80 minutes, he created a chance with an incisive pass behind the Tynecastle outfit’s defence.
Clement wants Rangers to be more dynamic and Ross McCausland, who is said to have been offered a new contract, could be given a chance in the coming weeks, age is no barrier, as the manager explained to RTV.

Rangers fans could see Ross McCausland given a chance
Scott Wright and Sam Lammers are ahead of the young Northern Ireland youth international in the absence of Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence.
When asked if Rangers fans could see Ross McCausland, who has impressed recently, starting soon, Philippe Clement said:
“That depends on his training and the games in the next couple of weeks.
“I am not a coach who cares about age. Look at my track record.
“In Monaco I had 17-year-olds starting, in Brugges the same, in Genk also young players.
“For me it is not important if you are 17 or 37.
“It is what you prove on the pitch.
“He is already 20 so is he already an old player?”
It’s easy for a manager to say this, what he has to do is prove that he will make the big decisions and play younger players.
Wright and Lammers have offered Rangers nothing of late whereas Ross McCausland has created chances in every game he has played.
He deserves to be given more game time, if he wasn’t an academy player McCausland would already, probably, have pushed Lammers out of the team.
In fairness, Clement has said that he is still assessing his squad and has maybe been giving Lammers one last opportunity to prove that he can be relied upon.
It’s safe to say that he hasn’t and, if McCausland keeps up his current form, then there is no reason why he shouldn’t be given the nod instead.
