SFA decision on Ryan Kent could save Rangers teammate from the chop

Yesterday afternoon, it emerged that Ryan Kent had been charged by the SFA.
Unless he appeals the decision, he will now serve a two-match ban starting against Hearts this evening.

After his excellent showing against Celtic, this is clearly bad news.
However, it may have an indirect benefit for one of his Rangers teammates.
Daniel Candeias.

Despite scoring an excellent goal against Hibernian, the Portuguese largely failed to produce in March.

He looked out on his feet before the international break, so the rest will have done him good.
Yet, while he was back to his busy self on Sunday and even though he played a part in the buildup to the goal, his performance was far from a standout.
Therefore, his place in the team could have been under threat for tonight’s clash.

The likes of Eros Grezda and Glenn Middleton are waiting in the wings, with the Albanian in particular, surely keen to establish himself at Ibrox.

If Kent misses the fixture against Hearts, though, Candeias will probably be retained.
With Alfredo Morelos out suspended too, it would be quite a lot of upheaval to change the entire front three.
Grezda is favourite to come in on the left, with Defoe up top and Candeias keeping his place on the right.
Quality in the final third must improve though, or it won’t be his spot for much longer.
