Only a matter of weeks ago was John Lundstram struggling to win over the Rangers fans, but now the midfielder’s “brutal honesty” has been praised by supporters.

The ex-Sheffield United man endured a difficult start to life at Ibrox but has quickly silenced the doubters with a series of Man of the Match performances for the Light Blues.

But whilst the midfielder would once again be recognised for his performance in the 1-1 draw with Hearts – during which Lundstram opened his league account with a long-range curler – the player was frustrated with dropping two points following a late equaliser.

The player was asked by RangersTV post-match if there were any positives Rangers could take from the match.

“Not really. In the first-half, fair enough we were good,” said Lundstram.

“For me, I’m just disappointed because I feel like we need to be winning that game.

“It was a top of the table clash and we’d have gone four points clear with a win. That’s just my opinion.”

The demands at Rangers are high and for a player many had written off in early season these comments have hit a chord with the Ibrox support.

Taking to Twitter following the disappointing draw, Rangers fans have commended the Liverpudlian midfielder for his brutal honesty:

The result will go down as opportunity missed as Rangers played some of their best football of the season but were remarkably wasteful in front of goal.

Lundstram was an inspired presence in midfield at times but the Ibrox team were let down by a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Meanwhile, some Ibrox fans were disappointed to see an on-form Gers star dropped for the visit of the Tynecastle club.
