Rangers are back in action this afternoon as they welcome Hearts to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership – and Gers fans have been reacting on Twitter after Steven Gerrard’s starting XI was confirmed for the top-of-the-table Rangers v Hearts clash

Captain James Tavernier comes back into the side from the XI that started against Hibs before the international break, with Nathan Patterson dropping to the bench for the champions.

Gers fans aren’t convinced by the decision to take Patterson out of the side, with some questioning why the Scotland international has been dropped – although the fact he played during the internationals couple play into the decision.

The Light Blues have a near full-strength squad to choose from with Ryan Jack, Fil Helander and Ryan Kent the only notable injury absentees as all three continue their rehab.

Going into this afternoon’s game, Hearts are the only side left in the Premiership with an unbeaten record and Gerrard will be hoping that has changed come 5pm as the champions look to start putting some distance between themselves and the rest.

A number of the Rangers players have just returned from international duty, with Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe all representing their countries over the past fortnight.

Today should see an Ibrox return for former Rangers trio Barrie McKay, Andy Halliday and Craig Halkett while Hearts will be the first side to bring a visiting support to Ibrox in the league since before the start of last season.
