Jan signing gets Rangers bug as club hope for £20.8m per year impact

Rangers might’ve toiled at Dens Park this weekend but in Aaron Ramsey grabbing his first Gers goal there’s a small positive to take alongside the three points.

The Gers left it late to defeat Dundee and keep their Premiership title hopes alive after Celtic had beaten Ross County 4-0 the day before.

Rangers huffed and puffed against Mark McGhee’s side after going 1-0 down early in the first half and – despite missing a penalty – eventually managed to turn the game on its head.

It started with Aaron Ramsey bundling the ball over the line just after the hour mark, a strike that counts the same as the rest but probably won’t make any compilations anytime soon.

The game was eventually won by Connor Goldson as the big defender cooly finished inside the Dundee box after being sent forward by the Ibrox management team to put the Gers 2-1 up.

It could prove a vital three points in the Gers’ hunt for Premiership glory but the result also helps Aaron Ramsey get that first notch for the club ahead of a tight run-in.

Can Aaron Ramsey prove difference-maker in Rangers run-in?

Rangers continue to compete on three fronts and if the club can get Aaron Ramsey fit and firing in this final furlong it could prove the difference between title glory and failure.

Whilst Ramsey wasn’t quite as influential as he had been in the 3-0 win at Dundee the week before, he certainly appears to be catching the Rangers bug as evidenced by a full-time tweet.

Making mention of a Pulp Fiction inspired fan chant, Ramsey could be starting to get into groove and very much into the Ibrox spirit.

Signed on deadline day for Juventus, it has taken the Welshman some amount of time to get up to speed and fans will be hoping to see Aaron get minutes for his country during the break.

Called up alongside Gareth Bale, it is probably one of the only examples of a time when the Rangers support are actively encouraging their players to play during the break.

But if Aaron Ramsey can get minutes under his belt here, and he can get closer to the player Juventus paid a cool £400k per week or £20.8m per year to sign, then he could prove a difference-maker for the club on domestic and European duties.

Here are three key talking points that emerged from Rangers’ late win over Dundee.
