International full-back faces uncertainty with Rangers exit imminent

Barring something miraculous happening over the coming weeks, Lee Hodson will leave Ibrox this summer.
The 24-cap Northern Ireland international’s contract expires at the end of the season [Transfermarkt]. Since he’s been away on loan all season, an extension is highly unlikely.

Previously, it looked as though if and when he left Ibrox, he might have a ready-made new home at St Mirren.
On a season-long loan, Hodson had made 20 appearances for the Buddies by the January.
He had even carved out a
new role for himself, higher up the pitch.
However, injury has put a considerable spanner in the works and now, his future looks increasingly uncertain.

The 27-year-old returned to Rangers for treatment and has subsequently overcome the serious ankle problem.

Yet, that hasn’t signalled a return to action.
He was named in Oran Kearney’s matchday squad away at Hamilton on 6 April and has been in the 18 on three further occasions since then. He’s yet to make it onto the pitch, though.
His adopted side strengthened during the January window and because they are on a five-match winning streak, it’s proved difficult to break back in.
Now that St Mirren know they can be successful without him, it could make them less likely to push for a permanent deal in the summer.

It’s far from an ideal position for Hodson to be in. He hasn’t kicked a ball in senior football since 23 January and in a matter of weeks, he’s set to become a free agent.
With his international, SPL and EFL experience, he has pedigree, though. Hopefully, he finds a new permanent home over the course of the summer.
