Rangers ran out comfortable winners against Dundee on Wednesday night. Yet, the manager was far from satisfied with the overall performance.
During the second half, he felt the quality and intensity dropped off.
In an attempt to reverse that change by getting messages on from the sideline, he turned to three players.

Are these three Gerrard’s most trusted lieutenants?

James Tavernier was only a passing contributor, but, as club captain, it almost goes without saying that he has a strong relationship with the manager.
However, perhaps in Jack and Kamara, additional leaders are emerging.
Jack has been extremely reliable since breaking back into the team earlier in the season.
He was without question the best player on the pitch as Rangers exited Europe in Vienna, and he backed that up with the decisive act in December’s Old Firm.

With his assuredness and consistency, he certainly leads by example.

Kamara, on the other hand, is a real newcomer to the side.
After all, he made his debut less than a fortnight ago, against St Johnstone. Yet, he too clearly has leadership qualities.
He wore the armband on several occasions at Dundee before his transfer and has looked unflappable so far in the famous shirt.
The three players have different levels of experience, but they are all proving to be solid performers.
Gerrard needs leaders if Rangers are going to genuinely challenge for silverware. Fortunately, it looks as though he may have already unearthed a few.
