A host of senior players featured as Rangers Reserves hammered Morton 5-0, this afternoon.
The resounding win is sure to please Graeme Murty and his coaching staff.
Promising young talent Josh McPake netted a hat-trick, and Glenn Middleton put his hand up for first team selection with a brace.

Reading a little deeper into the Reserves line-up, though, it suggests at at a return from injury for a major first team player at Aberdeen this evening.
The first team have four genuine centre-backs to call upon: Connor Goldson, Gareth McAuley, Joe Worrall and Nikola Katic.
Goldson has missed all four matches since the winter break, through injury.

Yesterday, Steven Gerrard claimed the ex-Brighton man was ‘touch and go’ for Aberdeen.

Yet, if he wasn’t fit, there’s no way McAuley would have played this afternoon.
After two consecutive SPL clean sheets, Worrall and Katic would have likely started this evening if Goldson was still stricken.

However, even in that case, McAuley would have been on the bench.
Gerrard simply wouldn’t head into a fixture of this magnitude without any defensive cover.

On that basis, expect the influential vice-captain to return tonight.
It’s unlikely that he’d be rushed back for a place on the bench, so either Katic or Worrall will likely drop out.
