Rangers U18s slipped to a shock 2-1 defeat to Hamilton Accies on Friday night, the team who’re currently bottom of the league.
This Gers age-group side started 2022 well with a comfortable win over Queen’s Park followed by consecutive 4-1 hammerings of Aberdeen.
However, they were soundly beaten by title rivals Hibernian last week before slipping up again at the Fountain of Youth Stadium.

Coach Cameron Campbell was without the likes of Jacob Pazikas, Greig Allen and Rory Wilson, who were all in action for Scotland U17s earlier this week, while Charlie Lindsay was also absent from the squad, suggesting that he’ll be playing for the B team in the Lowland League against East Stirlingshire on Saturday afternoon.
However, there were still plenty of exciting talents named in the starting XI and the visitors remained strong favourites.
It looked likely to be a comfortable night when Robbie Ure put the Young Gers ahead midway through the first half by heading home Tyler Pasnik’s cross [Rfcyouths.wordpress.com].
17-year-old Ure impressed at times with his hold-up play and defensive work-rate during Rangers’ UEFA Youth League defeat to Sevilla earlier in the week and the rangy striker has now scored five times in the last eight U18s fixtures.

Perhaps complacency then set in, though, because Accies scored twice in the final ten minutes of the first half to go 2-1 up.
The hosts had only won two out of fifteen league matches before this one but Rangers weren’t able to find a reply in the second half and they slipped to a shock loss.
