Rangers Academy player Rory Wilson reportedly scored one goal and assisted the other as Scotland U17s drew 2-2 with England in a youth international friendly on Thursday.

Wilson, who only recently turned 16, has been in prolific form for Rangers U18s this season.

He bagged several hat-tricks early in the season and has scored in Cameron Campbell’s side’s last four fixtures.

The young striker came off the bench and almost grabbed a late equaliser in the UEFA Youth League defeat to Sevilla at Dumbarton on Tuesday and now he’s impressing at international level.

Scotland U17s took on England in a friendly at Oriam earlier this week and the visitors triumphed 3-0, with Wilson missing out due to his UYL involvement.

However, he started up front in a second friendly between the two sides on Thursday morning, with fellow Rangers prospects Jacob Pazikas and Greig Allen also starting in goal and at centre-back respectively.

Scotland were able to be much more competitive this time around, and were 2-1 up at the interval.

There were no official live updates from the match, but according to the Twitter account of respected Rangers site rfcyouths.wordpress.com, Wilson scored one of the goals and assisted the other.

The hosts ultimately weren’t able to hang on to their advantage, with England equalising in the second half.

However, 2-2 is a big improvement on 3-0 and Wilson’s stock continues to rise.

Earlier in the season, when he was still only 15, the prolific youngster scored a brace including a late winner against Northern Ireland U17s in a UEFA European Championship Qualifier.

Meanwhile, Gio van Bronckhorst has praised a player who may well have turned his Rangers career around in the past week.
