The Rangers B team showed the Ibrox first team how it is done by beating their Celtic counterparts on enemy territory in the Scottish Lowland League.

Cole McKinnon was the hero with a second half strike proving enough to win the tie 1-0 as Rangers dispatched their arch rivals twice in the space of a month.

Having won 3-0 at Ibrox earlier in the month this was an opportunity to show the youth side’s superiority over their rivals with the Rangers B team Celtic Park bound.

Rangers had the better of the play in the first half in particular and were good for the victory as midfielder McKinnon nodded home in front of the away crowd.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was in attendance and watched his young charges fall to defeat to David McCallum’s side as Rangers closed the gap in the Lowland League.

Rangers sit 4th in what is essentially the fifth tier of Scottish football, three points behind Celtic in 3rd with a game in hand and superior goal difference.

Rangers B stars take chance to revel in Celtic victory

Speaking after the match, match winner Cole McKinnon described scoring the all important goal at Parkhead as “the best feeling ever”.

“It’s the best feeling ever, after being at Ibrox and then coming to their own stadium and putting on a good performance, it was great to get it [the goal] and the boys were buzzing in the changing room after it,” said McKinnon [Rangers].

“When you first come out you need to try and thrive off it [opposition support] a little bit and take it in your stride to take some confidence off it if you can.

“You just need to try and block it out as you go through the game, the boys just remained focussed.”

Popular Rangers midfielder Charlie McCann, who switched allegiances to Northern Ireland from the Republic earlier in the season, also added insult to injury with a post-match tweet.

Sharing an image of him smiling and beaming about “winning at their place”, the Rangers kid didn’t miss his opportunity.

He was joined by the likes of Kane Ritchie Hosler, who also turned the screw on social media by exclaiming “what a night”.

Well done to the young Rangers stars and let’s hope this is a sign of a bright future of them getting big results at Celtic Park.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ very own Gary Lineker has been promoting a major brand of crisps in his homeland.
