Rangers’ B team returned to winning ways with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Cumbernauld Colts.

The team had lost on their last outing and were determined to bounce back and secure a victory.

David McCallum made six changes in all following that defeat and it seemed to do the trick.

With Rangers B setting out with some intent, they had a few chances early on to make the breakthrough. Both Ross McCausland and Robbie Ure missed decent chances to open the scoring for the youngsters.

Tony Weston finally broke the deadlock on the 15th minute, intercepting a poor pass and rounding the Cumbernauld keeper to slot the ball home.

Amidst all the Rangers’ pressure, the Colts had a chance of their own, but Greig Allen made a vital block to prevent an equaliser.

The team went in at the break still a goal to the good, however, this didn’t last long. On the 50th minute, Dominic Mclaren managed to score from a Colts corner.

The momentum that Rangers B had built up in the first half had now disappeared as the Colts surprisingly took the lead. Shaun Brown edging the hosts in front.

Weston, 18, found the equaliser five minutes later and as the game was ending, a stalemate was looking likely.

Lewis MacKinnon scored the winner right at the depth to give Rangers the victory they deserved.

Meanwhile, Rangers might just have a ready placed Morelos replacement in the B team.
