Danny Rohl has played a key role in getting an in-demand player to sign a new contract at Rangers ahead of the transfer window.

The German has some important decisions to make in the coming weeks as a number of the players at Ibrox are linked with exits.

If there are no suitable replacements available for them, Rohl will need to convince some of them to stay put for the 2026/27 season.

Rangers pull off ‘coup’ to keep Ashton Scally at Ibrox

According to Rangers Review, the Light Blues have agreed a deal with Ashton Scally that will see him sign a new contract.

This news has been viewed as a “coup” internally, as Scally had Premier League clubs keen on securing his services.

Chelsea and Manchester City were the two clubs most interested in signing him, but they will now be unable to do so.

The 16-year-old left-back is rated highly by Rohl and he even travelled with the first team for warm-weather training in Spain.

This was undoubtedly a big moment for him as he is yet to make his senior debut.

However, his presence shows that he could not be far away from that happening, and that has played a major role in his reaching an agreement to sign a new contract.

Who should Danny Rohl name as the next captain? Let us know in the comments!

What Scally and Kyle Glasgow staying at Ibrox says about Danny Rohl’s plans

Rohl seems to be making it clear that he plans on integrating more academy prospects into his first team.

Having the youngsters constantly train with the seniors and even inviting them for mid-season training camps out of the UK shows that he values having them around.

Both Scally and Kyle Glasgow were in the German’s plans for the Scottish Cup clash against Annan Athletic.

However, due to age restrictions, the two 15-year-olds could not be handed their first-team debuts.

Rohl seems to be sending out a clear message that he wants to build this team for the future, and there is a high possibility that most of the new signings will be players who could be at Rangers for the foreseeable future and not just ones who are good for the present.
