Highly-rated Rangers kid Stephen Kelly is officially off the mark for Salford City as the Ibrox youngster nets a stunner for the English League Two side.

Kelly, 21, has been a regular in the Salford City side making 13 appearances since joining the club in January.

But it was in his latest appearance – in the Greater Manchester side’s 5-1 demolition of Scunthorpe United – that Stephen Kelly got on the scoresheet for his adopted team.

Kelly let the ball run across him inside the Scunthorpe box before composing himself and lashing the ball past a hapless goalkeeper to score the fourth goal for Salford in the victory.

Matt Smith had opened the scoring for Salford City whilst Brandon Thomas-Asante also banged in a hattrick for the club in an impressive victory.

Joe Nuttall scored what proved to be a consolation for Scunthorpe as Salford City proved too strong for the Iron.

“Before that though we dropped a couple of gears and thankfully we managed to get back where we were and went on again.

“It should give everybody in the squad a boost of confidence and we go on to Walsall next week.”
