Rangers’ new striker celebrates 365 days without having placed a bet. In the past, Lafferty has come out and admitted a gambling addiction that seen him “lose big” in previous times.
Yet today on his official Twitter account, he has come out and claimed why this date means so much to him.

You can’t help but feel made up with Lafferty’s achievement. For all of his success on the football pitch, this will mean so much more than anything he’s done.
It’s an addiction that’s swallowed the lives of not just footballers in the past, but everyday people. That Lafferty has come out the other side of things so strongly is a credit to him.
The striker opened up when he was at Hearts last season, and got support from fans all around Britain.
Since then, the towering forward has worked his behind off to get a move to Rangers. Finishing as Hearts’ top scorer last season, it all now must feel as if everything is coming into place for Lafferty.
The Northern Irishman, who’s in his second spell at Rangers, stressed his confidence earlier in the week. Talking about football matters, the Gers forward believes his side can win the title.
In the meantime, Steven Gerrard will just be hoping his main man is fit for Saturday’s visit of Dundee. Lafferty had to be substituted off against Bosnia for Northern Ireland, and also missed training with the same knock.
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill expects him to be fine, and stated that the forward was just rested.
The main thing is, however, that Lafferty’s health and well-being is in a good place after overcoming his demons.
