Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has talked up Rangers chances this season and says everyone in the Ibrox dressing room believes they’re going for 55.
The hallowed first title since Rangers tumbled down the divisions has eluded the club since they returned to the top division two seasons ago.
Now in their third year back in the top league, Lafferty told Cool FM that he believes Rangers now have a great chance.
“It will be tough. Celtic have been champions for many years but we now have a squad that can compete.
Everyone in the Rangers dressing room believes that we’ll get 55 and that this will be the year we’ll win the league.”
“We’ll be much closer to Celtic”
The Northern Irishman also reflected on last weekend’s Celtic match. Lafferty makes no excuses for the game and promises Rangers will be much closer to Celtic.
“Sunday was a disappointing result but with travelling and playing 38 minutes with nine men (in the Europa League) it was tough for us.
“Obviously there is going to be no excuses for the performance we’ve put in and Celtic were probably the better team on the day but we are on a good road now and a good path and we’re going to kick on and we’ll be much closer to Celtic.”
If anyone knows how to win a title with Rangers, it’s Lafferty. The lanky striker was part of the side that lifted Rangers last title in 2010/11. This was the club’s third in a row.
The striker regretted walking out of the doors the first time round and is very much here to make amends. He’s delighted to be back at Ibrox and is up for the challenge in Scotland and in Europe.
Under Steven Gerrard, Kyle Lafferty believes this is the year the club can deliver Rangers first league title in 8 years.
