Zak Rudden as returned to Rangers after his loan deal ended – but Falkirk want him back to fire them away from relegation.
The striker spent the first half of the season at the Falkirk Stadium, scoring eight times, Bairns boss Ray McKinnon hopes he’ll be back as he confirmed talks were ongoing over Rudden’s future.

“He has been recalled,” McKinnon the Falkirk Herald.
“But we are speaking to Rangers to see if something can be worked out.”

Incredibly, Falkirk haven’t won a game this season when Rudden hasn’t scored.
With the Bairns only a point off bottom in the Championship, getting Rudden back could be key to their survival.

The Scotland youth international is highly-rated by the Gers’ Academy staff and featured in the first-team’s pre-season fixtures.
It’s unlikely that Rudden will make the breakthrough into Steven Gerrard’s side this season with Alfredo Morelos, Kyle Lafferty and Jermain Defoe all ahead of him.

Going back to Falkirk and playing regularly will be a massive boost in his development.
Scoring regularly in a team that is struggling is an impressive achievement for the 18-year-old.

Since Falkirk aren’t in the top flight there is no winter break for McKinnon’s side.
This means Rudden could be back in action this weekend when they face Partick Thistle in a vital clash.
The Jags are bottom of the table so a win would be a huge result for either side.
Given Falkirk’s record when Rudden hasn’t scored this season, they will be desperate to agree a deal quickly.
