Premier League West Ham are reportedly keeping tabs on Rangers vice-captain Connor Goldson as talk surrounding a new contract appears to quieten down.

Goldson, 28, has previously intimated his commitment to life at Ibrox and assured supporters that the situation with his contract was being handled by his representatives [Rangers].

The player suggested that he wanted to be part of a Rangers side who’d go on to dominate Scottish football, but he is now in the final nine months of his contract.

“I sat down on holiday and thought about it and it sunk in a little bit what we done but I don’t think it’ll be until the end of my career when you really look back on last season and see how special it was,” said Connor [Rangers].

“We know we made history and we’ll go down but now it’s time to decide what we want to do. Do we want to go and dominate or do we want to be known as the team that won 55?

“Personally, that’s where my head is at and I think the gaffer will be drilling that home every day to make us try and go on and hopefully dominate.”

However, the player is yet to sign a new deal and come January, Goldson will be able to discuss terms with other clubs.

According to Football Insider, Premier League West Ham may be one of the sides looking to change the big defender’s mind.

According to that report, sources close to West Ham have claimed the club is monitoring Goldson’s contract situation as things go quiet regarding the player’s future.

FI also mention apparent late interest in the centre-back at the end of the transfer window which was not entertained by the Ibrox club.

Now we don’t know how concrete this apparent interest is – and the outlet only claims they’re monitoring his situation as would be wise – but West Ham are one side who’ve been routinely mentioned alongside the ex-Brighton defender.

Until Connor signs on the dotted line, we expect these stories are going to pop up from time to time but it goes without saying that the player is hugely influential at Rangers and should we lose him, those are some massive boots to fill.

Whilst Rangers have been boosted by the news Connor Goldson is back in the squad following a period of self-isolation, they’ve been sending their best wishes to the player’s defensive partner.
