Rangers are set to sign talented young midfielder Charlie McCann from Man United, according to the Daily Record.
The 19-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for United but has been a regular at U23 level.
It’s asserted that Steven Gerrard was made aware of McCann some time ago, has been monitoring his progress and is now ready to swoop ahead of Saturday’s Premiership opener against Livingston.
He has a year remaining on his current contract, so a fee would be required to bring him to Ibrox.
This is the first time many Rangers fans will have heard of McCann and plenty will be scrambling to find out as much as they can about the teenager, who started off at Coventry City.
Fortunately for Bears, we’ve found two clips that show him in action.
The United starlet is often used as a defensive midfielder, but he netted five times in 20 appearances for the U23s across the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy last season, so he’s certainly got an eye for goal.
In the first clip, taken from a PL2 match against Southampton in February, we see him initiating a counter-attack well inside his own half, passing the ball out wide and then showing great desire to get forward.
After being played in on the left corner of the box, he drives forward and cuts inside past a defender before placing a fine finish into the bottom right corner. Impressively, it was his second of the game in a comeback win.
A second-half brace from Charlie McCann secures a dramatic comeback win for United away at Southampton. Sounds familiar…

The second clip comes from a defeat to Everton in the same competition just a few days earlier.
The result may not have been as positive this time around, but the goal itself is possibly even better.
McCann receives the ball into feet around 30 yards from goal, before turning and driving forward.
As he approaches the edge of the box, he shifts inside and wrongfoots a Toffees defender, before unleashing a superb right-footed shot that finds the top left corner despite a strong hand from the goalkeeper.
Neil Wood's side have worked hard to draw level in tonight's #PL2 clash, through Charlie McCann's fine strike just before the break.
Come on, United! 💪

The United youngster may be lacking in senior experience but there’s certainly plenty to get excited about here for Bears.
As a primarily defensive midfielder, there’ll be a lot more to McCann’s game than goals, but no matter what position you play in, a knack for important or spectacular contributions is always handy at a club looking to win trophies and satisfy a giant fanbase.
A player could also be set to leave Ibrox in the near future, with four clubs reportedly battling for a 26-year-old Ger.
