FC Viitorul Constanta will reportedly receive 20 per cent of the fee paid by Rangers to Genk to sign Ianis Hagi [Scottish Sun].
Rangers confirmed on Wednesday night that they had agreed to sign the 21-year-old playmaker from the Belgian club on a permanent, long-term deal [Rangers.co.uk].

It was widely reported the previous evening that the transfer fee amounts to £3 million plus add-ons, with payments to be staggered across three years.
The Scottish Sun reports that 20 per cent of that fee – £600,000 – will go to Hagi’s former club Viitorul, due to a clause which was inserted into his initial transfer to Genk in 2019.
Viitorul play in the top flight in Romania and are managed by Ianis’ father, Gheorghe, who also founded the club back in 2009.

Verdict
This added detail about the transfer shows the work of Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson to be even more remarkable than first thought.
It seems Genk will now only really receive £2.4m for the Romania international (excluding future add-ons), a fee not far off half of the £4 million they paid for the player only ten months ago [BBC Sport].
By today’s standards, it’s a very small fee for a player who is already an established international and who starred in the Europa League Round of 32 back in February.
Hagi has now brought three cash windfalls to Viitorul from his sales to Fiorentina, Genk and Rangers, although they did have to part with a fee to sign him back from La Viola in 2018.
